Conseil des vins du Médoc

The size of the vine-growing area and the large number of trade organisations have induced the people in the Médoc to create an official, working body which represents and acts as spokesman for all the wine-producers. This structure has taken the form of an association which plays an essential part in the promotion of Médoc wines both at home and abroad.

Formerly, from 1969 to 1987 : GIE des Vins du Médoc

Aims

  • To extend the action of the individual wine-producers’ organisations and of the professional wine bodies and to encourage dialogue to find a joint agreement for trade policies
  • To promote the wines of the Médoc collectively bearing in mind the original nature of each component.

Activities

  • Organising and coordinating  promotional and public relations campaigns in France and rest of the word
  • Publishing and distributing promotional material for the trade
  • Researching and compiling statistical and commercial information
  • Training in catering and sommelier schools
  • Promotion events of the wines of the Médoc region
  • Press and public relationships
